So, I figured I will start a new thread for the progress on the transition report.

We are currently implementing a base building system similar to DayZ mod Epoch. It has its own unique feel and ways to it but I think it trumps Rust's fixed building emchanics as items can be places anywhere as long as it makes sense in terms of physics.

We are currently looking for good datacenters to host the game(probably in the US for the first one) so stay tuned.

Screenshots for the intrigued.

Here I am playing together with FiresRiot(on top of the red block) and a NPC in the far background.
The lego block looking things are there for prototyping the online version so don't worry about that.
This is my first base built in Green Page and yes I am proud of it!
I will definitely add ovens and pans for Iosif so that he can make his bacon. And no joke.

You don't suppose there will be a mod where we can create our own boats, ships, bunkers, bases, houses etc.?
Or will that be implemented in-game?

Oh and nice work on the update, Although FiresRiot will die if he falls off the roof.

Doing good. Don't worry about us just stopping one day and declaring the project dead. We are having an internal LAN based game this weekend with our friends for testing before it goes online.
 Hero

Note, when I said LAN, I meant that the access to the game server is restricted to LAN users for testing and development purposes. It doesn't mean that the final game will support LAN mode.

I will try to post a video of gameplay next monday-ish. SmileTwo

Here are some more screenshots WIP.

Thanks, we are trying really hard to improve the UI experience so that it doesn't become a drag and drop fest. While the idea is intuitive, we thought the previous inventory UI had some unnecessary features and bugs that had to be dealt with at its core. For instance, we've eliminated the issue where the items getting dragged jump to a random location at random times. We also eliminated the info view panel and employed the pop up tool tip. This gave us headroom to give the UI a more intuitive feel to it. In case you didn't notice, now you can turn the player in the middle like turntables and see where each item and equipment is placed on your character.

It depends on the model and its uses, but generally our production level models go through a specific pipe line. What I can tell you is that we try to use free software as much as possible to keep dev costs down hence familiar modeling software such as blender and similar are used on many instances. We also use some proprietary format for implementing advanced(or as some people call next gen) shaders. Kind of cool in my opinion.

I was wondering. In your multiplayer map. Will there be woodlands where you could shop down trees for lumber. To build a base or a house/hut. Maybe even a small player made fort/or town.

Will you guys have a dayz style death and life sytem. Ive read the discussion about the pay per life, and p2p idea. Will there be like when you die. You lose all your stuff. Will you have it buy once for life,And will you have the pay per life system.

I am also wondering what kind of base building will you have, and will you have base building/ player forts, towns, citys, hideouts. Will there be like a resource crafting, and wood/metal crafting. Like the wood building is strong but will rotten over time.

Metal buildings will be strong, but will rust faster. Then lose durability a lot faster than wood. When the house is build with wood. then supported with metal beams. It will be stronger. Will there be hard, and soft crafting resources you have to make like concrete. If you want your house to have a wood or concrete foundation.

Will there be rivers, and streams. Where you can drink water, and catch fish/turtle/snakes. Will there be boats, or ships. Player made ships, or damaged ships you can find in museums, and repair. That you can pull out with a vehicle, or even other players.

Will you have a special kind of cars. Example-Muscle cars-economy cars-sports cars-trucks. Maybe armored vehicles, or regular cars. You can armor out with materials, and Attach a rifle on top or it. Likea turrent, but will take more time to reload-also will weight the car down making it go slower. This would make it have its gain=defense against stuff, but will also have a downside= makes the car heavy, and cost more gas to power the car.

When you see this tell me if i am spamming, and i will make it shorter or remove it.

Another update. We are having an internal game for testing purposes tomorrow, and another one in 4~5 days and after that we should be purchasing servers for public connections within a week. So expect something to play in about 2 weeks.

Just had our first internal testing with 4 players. Each players built amazing base structures and it was totally awesome. Unfortunately, Firesriot ended up killing all of us but we shall see how it will go tomorrow night.

In the words of a TF2 Character "That admin's a SPY!" "SPY! SPY!"
" I SEE SPY! "
" THAT SPY IS A SPY! "

Anyway, so we can have a server where all playtesters get to build stuff and start backstabbing each other in around 2 weeks?

Pretty much. Be aware though, this is a strictly MMO game now, and hence players will have to simply download client files to play the game. We will be opening a US based server in about a week and a half (first week of April perhaps?) and will be publicly accepting players.

Since I forgot to record our game session, I am uploading a screenshot of the latest build. Hope you guys like it. BTW, the pick axe is for gathering stone which then can be turned to cement via a stone oven and then to a cinderblock for building structures.

Oh and make sure that when this becomes MMO atleast make sure there's some sort of invisible shield for players who have just started that would last for atleast 1-5 days unless they get killed by natural causes.
